World Heritage Day

World Heritage Day

A special morning assembly was conducted at Delhi Public School Asansol on 17th April 2026 to celebrate World Heritage Day. The assembly began with an introduction highlighting the significance of the day, emphasizing the importance of preserving our cultural and natural heritage. The program commenced with the school prayer creating a serene and reflective atmosphere. This was followed by a session of mass PT, energizing the students. Students then shared insights on the importance of World Heritage Day and cited examples of well-known heritage sites, spreading awareness about the need to protect and preserve them. The school song was sung with great enthusiasm. An engaging inter-house quiz based on heritage further encouraged active participation and interest among students. The highlight of the assembly was the address by our respected Principal. She delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of heritage. She emphasized that heritage is the mirror of our identity and connects us to our roots, values, and traditions. She explained that monuments, ancient structures, and cultural practices are not merely remnants of the past but are vital sources of knowledge and inspiration for future generations. She also highlighted the growing threats to heritage, such as pollution, vandalism, rapid urbanization, and climate change, stressing the urgent need for collective responsibility. She encouraged students to take practical steps in preserving heritage, such as maintaining cleanliness at heritage sites, respecting rules, avoiding damage to monuments, protecting the environment, and promoting cultural traditions. She concluded by urging students to become responsible guardians of heritage by valuing their culture, language, and history, and inspired everyone with the thought: “Preserve our past, protect our present, and inspire our future.” The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, leaving students with a deeper sense of responsibility towards preserving heritage.
